MINISTRY OF THE WORD
proclaims, explains, informs and forms parishioners of all ages
in the Scriptures and tradition of our church.
BIBLE STUDY
In the process of life-long catechesis, Bible Studies are an
ongoing, continuous occurrence. The continuance of our Christian
faith calls each to learn more of why we believe what we read
and hear of Holy Scripture. Bible studies are available for both
men and women or combined throughout the year. For more
information please consult the weekly bulletin or call the
parish office at (352)394-3562.
LIFE LONG CATECHESIS
•RELIGIOUS EDUCATION FOR ADULTS: Life-long
catechesis for adults on various subjects is available on a
periodic schedule throughout the year. The schedule is published
in the Sunday bulletin, on the Parish website (blessedsacramentcc.com)
and may also be obtained by calling the Parish office.
•RELIGIOUS EDUCATION FOR CHILDREN:
(Parish Religious Ed Program - P.R.E.P.) Provides a catechetical environment where the students will grow
in faith and experience the love of God and church while they
are formed in our Catholic faith tradition. The Religious
Education Program at Blessed Sacrament is designed to instill a
deep sense of the message revealed by God, of fellowship in the
life of the Holy Spirit, and of service to the entire community
as our children and youth are prepared to receive the sacraments
of our faith.
Religious Education meets from early September until May. It
includes First Grade through Twelfth Grade.
Catechists: The catechist must have a
desire to share the Good News with children of all ages. Good
communication skills are important. Previous experience is not
necessary. Familiarity with Scripture and a basic understanding
of Catholic doctrine would be beneficial. Group and individual
training is provided.
First Reconciliation: Children in the
second grade are prepared for this sacrament within the
Religious Education program. Children must be pre-registered
with a copy of their baptismal certificate. It is recommend that
all children receive first reconciliation before First
Communion.
First Eucharist / Communion: Eucharist is
offered to those who have reached the age of reason. Children
are prepared within the religious education program. Children
must be pre-registered and submit a copy of their baptismal
certificate.
Confirmation: In accordance with Diocesan
policy, Confirmation preparation at Blessed Sacrament is a
two-year process. Beginning candidates must be at least an
eighth grader, a registered member of the parish, have received
the Sacraments of First Reconciliation and Eucharist, and be
practicing his or her faith.
If you would like further information or if you are interested

•VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL: A one-week summer
Religious Education Program is offered each summer in which a
theme is chosen and developed into an enjoyable faith teaching
experience for grade school children - ages 3 through 10. Topics
are developed through stories, music, service projects, crafts,
games and enjoyable interaction. The class is held from 9:00am
until 12:00pm. For more information call the parish office.
MISSIONS
While we all continue on a spiritual journey to know the Lord
more closely, Blessed Sacrament Catholic Community offers a
mission at least one time a year. A mission is a preaching event
at which God’s Word is proclaimed through the Bible and Catholic
Doctrine. It is also proclaimed through the life, learning, and
personal experience of the preacher. In addition to offering
spiritual growth for our adult parishioners and friends, we also
offer opportunities for education and activities for our youth
as well as babysitting services for our younger children. Please
check our weekly bulletin or website (www.blessedsacramentcc.com).
PRISON MINISTRY
The Prison Ministry goes to the Lake Correctional Facility in
Clermont every Tuesday to minister to the inmates. A Eucharistic
service is done on Tuesday between 1:00pm and 3:30pm. Once a
month a mass is celebrated in the prison by one of the priests
in the parish. RCIA preparations are given to those who wish to
receive the sacraments or want to become a Catholic. Spiritual
guidance and counseling are also given. We fulfill what Jesus
said in the Beatitudes: “I was in prison and you visited me.”

RITE of CHRISTIAN INITIATION (RCI)
•THE RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS (RCIA)
is the process by which new members are brought into the
Church. In late summer an announcement invites those interested
in joining the Catholic Church to an informational evening
meeting.
The RCIA is meant for you if you have had no formation in any
Christian way of life; belong to another denomination, whether
baptized or not; have been baptized Catholics, and have had no
further Catechesis; or are an adult Catholic seeking the
Sacrament of Confirmation.
The process in ongoing and culminates with full communion with
the Catholic Church or as otherwise required at the Easter
Vigil. The process is divided into three segments. An inquiry
time in the Fall to acquaint you with the Catholic Church and
ask any questions you may have, with no commitment being asked.
Near the end of November the inquirerers are asked to make a
preliminary commitment to continue their journey toward
initiation.
On the 1st Sunday of Lent you will make a definite commitment to
continue and become The Elect of God with a commitment ceremony
here at Blessed Sacrament and a journey to celebrate with the
Bishop of Orlando, signing your name in the Book of the Elect in
his presence.
•RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF CHILDREN (RCIC):
These are sessions that have been developed solely for children
about the age of reason that express a desire to be initiated
into the Catholic Church; or for those children that have been
baptized, but have not yet received instruction for the
Sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist. They are prepared
for the Sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation to be
administered at the Easter Vigil.

WOMEN’S MINISTRIES OUTREACH (WMO)
Blessed Sacrament Women's Ministries Outreach [WMO] is an
organization of Catholic Women committed to encouraging a deeper
relationship with Jesus Christ; pursuing spiritual, mental,
emotional growth and healing; and spreading this love and
healing with our families. One of our focuses is to invite other
women to join us in a deeper love of Jesus Christ by
participating in our annual Women's Retreat entitled "The Emmaus
Walk." The next 3-day retreat will take place February 6th
- 8th,
2009 at St Leo's Retreat Center in St. Leo, Florida.
Another part of our ministry is "Women of Grace." We offer "The
Full of Grace" Women and the Abundant Life Foundational Study
Series in a nine-week format. The goal of the study is to teach
and support women to "become women of grace" and to live more
fully their call to be "...women who are spiritual mothers,
women who are full of grace, women of the abundant life." This
study combines the teachings of Scripture and the Church with a
down-to-earth program for the way to holiness, upholding the
mission of Christian women in the world today. In addition to
the study series, we offer follow-up support for women through
other studies as well as social gatherings.
A new part is our Prayer Shawl Ministry. This is a prayerful
ministry that reaches out to those in need of comfort and
solace, as prayers for God’s love and healing are woven into
each shawl. I have heard your prayers and seen your tears ...
Isaiah 38:5 The person making the shawl prays for the person who
will receive it. The Prayer Shawl is a tangible reminder of the
mantel of God’s love during a difficult and painful time.
